If you’re thinking of cruising, there’s a very good chance you’re considering a Carnival cruise. Growing since our founding in 1972, Carnival Cruise Line — "The World’s Most Popular Cruise Line®" — now carries millions of passengers every year. Our newest ship is Carnival Horizon, which debuted in April, and we’re introducing the new Carnival Panorama and the totally transformed Carnival Sunrise setting sail in 2019.
Carnival Cruise Line is proud to be part of a family of companies owned by Carnival Corporation, which includes sister lines Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Cunard Line, among others. In a nutshell… we’re all about fun vacations at sea and ashore! A Carnival cruise features day and nighttime entertainment like stage shows, musical performances, deck parties, casinos and more. (Like what? Like waterslides!) We invite our guests to come as they are, and we make everyone feel right at home with comfy staterooms, attentive service, casual and elegant dining, plus a variety of bars and gathering places indoors and out. Guests enjoy this unique experience against the backdrop of some of the world’s most beautiful seaports. Our 26 ships operate 3- to 24-day voyages, departing from every coast in the U.S., as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and Barbados. While we’re best known for Caribbean cruises, we sail to other exotic and amazing destinations like Mexico, Alaska, The Bahamas, Cuba, Europe, Hawaii and the Far East.
Our origins date back to the late 1960s and an eighth-grade dropout named Kirk Kerkorian, who became one of the most famous and successful businessmen of his generation. A one-time owner of the renowned Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movie studio (which today has no relationship to MGM Resorts International), he is widely credited as among the early pioneers of Las Vegas. He built the International Hotel in 1962—the largest hotel in the world at that time—whose first two performers were Barbra Streisand and Elvis Presley. Just four years later, he built the MGM Grand Hotel which surpassed International Hotel in size and was larger, even, than the Empire State Building. Since then, what once was a casino-driven, Las Vegas-anchored operation has become a global entertainment brand, offering the world’s most exciting and diverse portfolio of guest experiences through a singular, unified strategy. No other company with roots in gaming has undergone a transformation quite like ours. A conscious strategy to take the best of our history, combine it with our largest ambitions for the future and execute with one common vision has revolutionized the way we do business. Today, many of our resorts are showcases of entertainment choices and our global suite of experiences means guests can find a little bit of the best of Las Vegas in locations throughout the United States and in other areas of the world.

Hyatt was founded by Jay Pritzker in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the following decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother, Donald Pritzker, working together with other Pritzker family business interests, grew the company into a North American management and hotel ownership company, which became a public company in 1962. In 1968, Hyatt International was formed and subsequently became a separate public company. Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation were taken private by the Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982, respectively. On December 31, 2004, substantially all of the hospitality assets owned by Pritzker family business interests, including Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation, were consolidated under a single entity, now Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Our foundation in family goes back to 1957, when entrepreneur Jay Pritzker purchased the original Hyatt House motel. Pritzker and his brother, Donald, worked to grow the Hyatt brand, powered by their belief in the importance of family and care. As of September 30, 2016, Hyatt is a global hospitality company with 13 brands and more than 600 properties in more than 50 countries. As we continue to grow, we don’t lose sight of what’s most important—people. Hyatt is a company that was built by family. It’s a workplace where coworkers become friends. Every day we care for our guests. Care is at the heart of our business, and it’s this distinct guest experience that makes Hyatt one of the world’s best hospitality brands.
